Mermaid Form
it's a long, slender tail, nearly twice as long as his human half, that stretches out from the boy's waist, curled around Vector's leg with the tip in the water. The scales are a deep, deep red, redder even than his gems -- scales that are scattered across his top half as well. Bright splotches of color, a very sea green, are also scattered along the scales themselves, like someone splashed paint on him. And in this dim light... they are very distinctly glowing, too. As are the much more clearly green dots that go down along his sides. There's a golden ornament around his waist, covering where skin turns to scales properly, but inspection will reveal that not only is it coral, not metal... but it appears to be a part of Makani's body.
And the fins... the fins. One on the end of his tail, one on the back of it about half the length of his body and centered on the middle, both a transparent sea-green solid, darker green spots on them.
Of course, that's not the only thing different from the "human" in Vector's dreams... though he'd have to check Makani's ears to find the finned versions, or his mouth to find those sharp teeth, or his hands to find the claws and webbing between them.
